Dr. Marcus Tan

Dr. Marcus Tan

Managing Director

Marcus is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds an Executive MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management.

A medical graduate from the University of Western Australia, Marcus is a well-regarded clinician qualified in General Practice and with a special interest in skin cancer and minor procedures.

He has previously served as a Medical Director for Australia's leading and largest skin cancer clinic group. Concurrently, he was a director on the board of GP Coastal Division of General Practice for six years and Chairman for three terms, leading a successful merger in 2007 to form the Perth Primary Care Network (PPCN) which is now recognised as the largest Division of General Practice in Western Australia and one of the leading Divisions in Australia.

When not working clinically, Marcus works as a management consultant with Equis Consulting Group, a boutique management consultancy he co-founded in 2007 that creates ethical and quality business solutions to health care industry challenges. His key areas of commercial expertise and interest include strategic planning and management, marketing and business development, facilitation and training, corporate advisory and governance, capital raising, and angel investing.

Marcus has a wide network of contacts within the Australian health and business community and has experience with large and small private, public, government, and not-for-profit sectors. He is also a strong believer in giving back and is a co-founder and director of Meridian Global Foundation, a professional philanthropic group and charitable trust.

Marcus is married with two young sons. As a keen traveler, he has set foot on every continent in the world including Antarctica. His other pastimes include snow skiing, reading, golf, and badminton.

Dr. Mike Cadogan

Chief Information Officer

A graduate of the University of Edinburgh and Oxford, Mike is a senior emergency physician at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Western Australia and resuscitation doctor for the Western Force rugby team.

Recognising the need for enhanced medical information distribution in Australia both at a structural and an educational level, he created an interactive intranet learning platform in 2006 to facilitate e-learning using high quality multimedia content. Mike also founded the development of HealthEngine, Australia's most comprehensive search engine to find doctors.

Mike is a prolific writer and editor of Life In the Fast Lane amongst his many blogs and medical texts. He patrols the information superhighway and maintains the highest standard of content quality and integrity across the Future Health family of websites. Widely regarded as the number one medical blogger in Australia and an expert in medical applications of social media, Mike is a sought after speaker and consultant to corporate clients and educational and research institutions both in Australia and internationally. Mike is married with three children in Perth. He is passionate about rugby, medical education, and health informatics.

Jinnan Cai

Chief Strategy Officer

As a young internet entrepreneur, Jinnan has accumulated a wealth of experience beyond his years. He is a self-taught developer who studied design and advertising before being lured into the business of the web. At the age of 19, he co-founded Buzka, a Silicon Valley award winning technology start-up and BRW Top 100 Australian Web App which shares its secret sauce with Future Health.

Jinnan leads product strategy, design and development across Future Health's suite of websites and applications. His cross-disciplinary skills make him as fearless in the boardroom as the server room. He loves rolling up his sleeves with talented people to make big ideas happen and creating innovative strategies and solutions that push the boundaries. He secretly enjoys nudging, pushing and pulling the Future Health team to accomplish the impossible, which can sometimes produce mild symptoms of discomfort.

Jinnan is passionate about innovations that empower individuals and communities to achieve a whole that is greater than the sum of the parts. He has an insatiable appetite for good food and world-changing ideas, while maintaining a healthy interest in economics, sustainability, and Chinese medicine.

Gerard Caulfield

Gerard Caulfield

Chief Technology Officer

Gerry is a talented and experienced software engineer who fine tunes and develops the technologies under the hood of the Future Health family of sites. He is qualified in Software Development from the Institute of Technology, Perth, and possesses a broad knowledge of computing technology including system development, database design, Linux system administration and over twenty programming and scripting languages.

Gerry is logical and meticulous in his approach to programming with a special interest in security and efficiency of systems. Previously, Gerry was instrumental in developing infrastructure, technology and content management platforms at Buzka.

Gerry is a strong believer in the importance of freedom for animals (including humans) to do as they wish as long as it does not bring harm to others. He enjoys learning everything, video games and philosophy.

Darius Wey

Darius Wey

Senior Web & Mobile Applications Developer

A double-major Computer Science graduate from the University of Western Australia, Darius Wey is a well-regarded designer and developer whose primary focuses include computational and programming principles, systems, software engineering, graphic and Web design, and mobile computing.

Darius worked as a Software Engineer at IBM, focusing on the development of Tivoli systems and service management solutions, before venturing into the world of technology start-ups by founding Codesparq, a business specializing in the design and development of Web and mobile applications. His technical expertise in this area, coupled with a medical background spanning over three years, also sees him drive the design and development of many of Future Health's innovative solutions as the company's Senior Web & Mobile Applications Developer.

When not programming, Darius serves as the News Editor, Designer & Developer, and is a prolific writer for Thoughts Media Inc., a global network of online communities focused on Windows Mobile-based, Zune-based, and Apple-based software and hardware as well as a wide variety of other technologies. He also serves as a member of the Board of Experts panel at Smartphone & Pocket PC Magazine, and an executive of the Perth Mobility User Group. Over the years, he has delivered many presentations and contributed countless technical articles to Microsoft, multiple user groups, and both online and printed magazines. His passion for and thorough knowledge of mobile computing as well as his desire and willingness to give back to the community has seen him recognized as a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP).

Darius currently resides in the sunny coastal city of Perth, Australia. He has an avid interest in travel, photography, music, and good food, and is shamelessly addicted to green tea.

Heidi Allen

Heidi Allen

Digital Media Strategy Consultant

Heidi has over 15 years experience in health and publishing industries, working internationally in England and Australia. She develops and shows how to implement digital strategies, and her experience through working with organizations such as Elsevier and CSIRO Publishing has given her a strong insight into the challenges facing companies needing to develop an online presence.

Heidi helps run the digital strategy for HealthEngine as well as BodyInMind.com.au, a clinical research site. She presents regularly on social media marketing and strategy for corporate clients and comments through her strategy blog.

Natalia Kacperek

Natalia Kacperek

Customer Support Representative and Admin Officer

Natalia Kacperek holds a double degree in Health Science and Commerce at the University of Western Australia. She has studied commerce internationally at the Vienna University of Business Administration and worked in health research and administration in Germany. In Australia, she has been engaged in health data collection for the Department of Health and scientific writing for the Cancer Council.

She manages the HealthEngine database, doctor profiles and patient enquiries. She also administers the Popfossa database. She believes enquiry and transparent data are the keys to informed decision making, which motivates her through hours of meticulous data extraction and entry.

She enjoys reading, making short films, and taking trips overseas to improve her Polish and German.

Briony Swire

Briony Swire

Customer Support Representative and Research Officer

Born in Perth, Briony has also lived in Zimbabwe and the UK. She recently completed her honours year of Psychology, which has instilled in her a passion for cognition. Studying at the University of Western Australia and the University of Bristol, she also holds a double-major in English Literature and Psychology.

Briony has two years experience aiding clients with the creation and updating of their websites, and has learnt the importance of providing an excellent service to clients.

An avid traveller, Briony has spent much of her time abroad. Her other hobbies include salsa dancing, and eating anything that contains chocolate.

James graduated as a Physiotherapist from the University of Melbourne in 2003, and is now in his final year of Medical School at the University of Notre Dame in Fremantle.

Before beginning Medicine in 2007, he spent much of his time working and travelling the world, spending some time working as a Physiotherapist in Wales, as well as exploring the corners of South America, Asia and Europe. He now spends much of his spare time following interests in research, writing and blogging. When he is not buried in a book studying, James can be found lazing away on the many beaches in Perth, or sipping on endless cups of Yerba Mate.
